5 Ways to Integrate WordPress with Facebook

Facebook offers no shortage of functions that are compatible with WordPress, such as social media login, its reaction system, and more. You can improve your and your readers' WordPress experience if you can get Facebook to work for you.

This article looks at five different ways to integrate the two leading platforms, including the right tools to use.

1. Add Facebook Reactions

You can add Facebook reactions – the emoticons people use to express how they feel about a particular subject or post.

You use the DW Reactions plugin to achieve a similar effect with WordPress. It makes it possible to insert a reaction system on your WordPress site. The design is similar to Facebook's, and there are more than 300 emojis to choose from.

2. Automatically Post from WordPress

You can automatically post to Facebook from WordPress with a tool like IFTTT (If This Then That). This tool is free and automates interactions between devices and apps.

  1. To post automatically, create an IFTTT account and click on 'Connect.' Then, you can sync your WordPress site with your Facebook account.
  2. Enter your WordPress credentials, including your username, your password, and your WordPress URL. After you press Connect, add your Facebook credentials.
  3. The system will redirect you to the Facebook login page automatically.
  4. IFTT isn't the only option. WordPress plugins like Social Auto Poster, WP2Social Auto Publish, and Revive Old Posts will also work. They are free to use as well.

3. Display Your Likes

It's hardly possible to dispute that people are more interested in Facebook posts with lots of likes and reactions than in posts with none or few. You can show how many people have liked your Facebook page on WordPress to raise interest in it. This can be done using Easy Facebook Like Box, a plugin that adds an informative widget for Facebook pages.

The widget displays the number of Likes as well as a list of users who reacted with a thumbs up recently.

It's also possible to add a Like function for your pages and posts so that readers can show which ones they've enjoyed.

4. Enable Facebook Login

Facebook lets users log in via third-party apps, which is highly convenient because otherwise, they would have to create new accounts. Many people interact with too many sites to keep track of, even on a day-to-day basis.

Users who see they can log into WordPress using Facebook might do so while they wouldn't have under other circumstances. There is a special plugin for this, too, called Facebook Login.

You need a Facebook App ID to activate the function on your WordPress site. Follow the instructions provided by the plugin for the rest. It's very easy.

5. Show Comments

WordPress and Facebook comment sections are pretty similar when taken at face value. However, Facebook has some advantages over WordPress in this regard.

If you log into WordPress via your Facebook account, you can comment on posts directly. What's more, you have access to the integrated Like function if you use Facebook comments. With this function, you see the most popular comments at the very top. This can facilitate discussion around your posts.

To add this function, you can use a plugin called Facebook Comments WordPress. It also offers a large number of customization options apart from letting you implement Facebook comment sections.
